Eric Bailly wants Man Utd exit

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is hoping to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a bright start to his career after joining from Villarreal two years ago, making 25 Premier League appearances in his debut season.

However, he has since fallen in the pecking order due to a succession of injuries and poor form, making just 11 league outings this term.

Bailly was reportedly quite disappointed by the omission from the match squad for the derby game against Arsenal and he is reportedly looking to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Having splashed out €38 million on his services in July 2016, Man Utd will be looking to secure a good deal if they decide to sell the Ivorian.

Inter eyeing Filipe Luis; Otamendi talks up summer exit

Inter eyeing Filipe Luis

Italian giants Inter Milan are being linked with a summer move for Chelsea full-back Filipe Luis, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri are expected to offload Yuto Nagatomo this summer and in turn aim to recruit a new left-sided defender.

And while they are looking at a number of high-profile footballers, the latest reports suggest that Filipe Luis has emerged as their top target.

The Brazilian full-back has largely struggled for playing time at Stamford Bridge, having played second fiddle to Cesar Azpilicueta throughout the previous campaign.

He could, therefore, request to leave the Blues in the summer transfer window, with a return to Atletico Madrid also a possibility.

Filipe Luis, 29, was also…

Will the Canaries be flying high next season?

Norwich boss Alex Neil has enjoyed a meteoric rise from the Scottish second tier to the English Premier League

Yesterday I wrote an article about Bournemouth’s chances of surviving the drop from the Premier League next season.

Today I will look at another promoted club Norwich’s chances of avoiding relegation in the new campaign.

One

That was the number of seasons that Norwich spent in the Championship. The Canaries were relegated in season 2013/14, but last season finished third in the second tier before winning a play-off final against Middlesbrough to earn promotion to the top-flight.

Norwich may have won promotion in the end, but for a long time it looked like they were going to miss out on even the play-offs.

However a late surge…

Holden sidelined with anterior cruciate ligament tear

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed midfielder Stuart Holden has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The 27-year-old picked up the injury during the United States 1-0 victory in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final against Panama on Sunday.

Holden recently signed a new contract and the Reebok Stadium and it is not yet known how long he will be sidelined for by his most recent injury.

Bolton s head of sports performance Mark Leather told the club s official website: We ve got the scans and the results will be analysed by our specialists.

We can then put an action plan in place over the next week to 10 days when the initial swelling reduces.

Holden has been badly affected by knee injuries over the course of the past two years.

Pardew hails returning Taylor

Alan Pardew praised Ryan Taylor after he returned from his injury nightmare in Newcastle United s 2-0 League Cup win over Manchester City.

Taylor has had to recover from two serious knee ligament injuries in the last two years, and Wednesday s fourth-round tie at the Etihad Stadium was his first start for Newcastle since August 2012.

Goals from Rolando Aarons and Moussa Sissoko gave Newcastle a surprise victory against the League Cup holders.

And Pardew was quick to hail the returning Taylor, who put in an accomplished performance at the heart of Newcastle s midfield.

He did outstanding, said Pardew. His performance was what he is all about discipline and quality, which is what he s like as an individual.

You have to remember when you can t do …

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo confirmed Filipe Luis will rejoin the La Liga club soon as he hailed the arrival of Jackson Martinez.

Speaking at a dinner with Atletico s squad on Tuesday, Cerezo applauded the club s transfer dealings so far in the close-season, with Martinez, Luciano Vietto, Yannick Ferreira Carrasco and Stefan Savic having arrived at the Vicente Calderon.

Prediction: Liverpool vs Burnley

Best odds: 8/13

Bookmaker:

Liverpool and Burnely are set to face each other at Anfield on Thursday evening, in what will be the 19th Premier League game of the season for the hosts and the 18th for the visitors. It should be an interesting one too Burnely were the only team in the English top flight to leave Anfield undefeated last season when a second-half strike from Jay Rodriguez cancelled out Andy Robertson s opener in the first half.

Liverpool

Liverpool s relatively poor form in recent matches has been the subject of much debate in the last couple of days. The defending champions haven t won a league game since thrashing Crystal Palace 0-7 at Selhurst Park in mid-December. They failed to beat West Bromwich Albion at home (1-1), Newcastle United away (0-0),…

Real president to call early elections

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon, accused of rigging the club s last annual general assembly, may finally remain in his post until early elections in June, several Spanish newspapers reported Friday.

Spanish media had reported late on Thursday that the 57-year-old lawyer would resign on Friday after sports daily Marca reported earlier this week that unauthorised people had voted during the club s general assembly on December 7.

Calderon, whose four-year mandate expires in 2010, has denied any wrongdoing. The assembly voted by a small margin to approve the accounts of the club the world s richest football club for 2008 and 2009.

Sports daily AS reported Friday that Calderon has accepted announcing elections for June but refuses to step down unless the managem…

Ronaldo out for two more weeks: club

Real Madrid s Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo will be out of action for at least another two weeks, the club said Thursday, after a doctor in Amsterdam examined his injured ankle.

It said new tests by his former doctor, Cornelius Nicolas Van Dijk, confirmed the diagnosis given by the medical team of Real Madrid obtained after MRI and CT scans on Tuesday.

Dr. van Dijk will reexamine him in another 15 days, Real said in a statement on its website.

Dutch physician van Dijk, who has also treated Ronaldo s team-mate Ruud van Nistelrooy and AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi, previously operated on the Portuguese winger in 2008.

Ronaldo, Real s record signing at 94 million euros, will definitely miss their Madrid derby meeting with city rivals Atletico on Satu…
