According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva wants to stay at the French champions – but the club themselves want to get rid of him at the end of the current season.
The 35 year old veteran has been on the books in the capital since back in 2012 when he made the jump over from Italian giants AC Milan. Ever since then he has served as a consistent presence at the heart of PSG’s back four, but now, it seems like they could be going with a ‘out with the old, in with the new’ sort of tactic.
Silva has always been an efficient and impressive defender but now that he’s moving into the twilight of his career, it would appear as if PSG want to cash in on him whilst they still can.
It’d certainly be a risky tactic given his veteran status at the club, but every single top level player gets to this point sooner rather than later.
